The 14-day free trial and what happens when it ends

A new WP Provider Translate account starts with a 14-day free trial of the smallest plan, Starter. You don’t enter payment details to start it. When the trial ends and you have not chosen a plan, nothing is removed from your site: everything that was translated keeps showing, and only the automatic translation of new text stops.

What the trial includes

The trial starts when you connect your site and a new account is made for you, and runs for 14 days. During the trial your site is translated automatically, the same way as on a paid Starter plan: you choose your languages, and pages are translated as they are found.

  • No payment details. You are not asked for a card or a bank account, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.
  • Once per account. An account gets one trial. A staging or local copy of your site uses the same account and the same trial.

Where you see the days left

At the top of every WP Provider Translate screen in WordPress, administrators see the plan strip. During the trial it has an extra line, such as Trial: 9 days left. Your account page shows the same line when the account has one site.

The rest of the strip says what the plan means for your site. How to read it is in change your plan.

What happens when the trial ends

If you have not chosen a plan when the 14 days are over, the plugin switches nothing off.

On your siteAfter the trial without a plan
Pages that are translatedKeep showing in every language, as before.
Corrections you made by handKeep showing. You can still change them and make new ones.
The language switcherStays where it is and keeps working.
New text on a page that is already translatedIs not translated automatically. Visitors see that text in your site’s own language; the rest of the page stays translated.
A new page that has no translation yetIs not shown in the other languages. Its address in another language sends the visitor to the home page in that language.

A new page appears in a language as soon as it has a translation. You can translate it by hand at any time: see edit and correct translations. Once you choose a plan, new text and new pages are translated automatically again.

The notice in WordPress

After the trial has ended, administrators see one notice on the WP Provider Translate screens:

Your trial has ended. Everything translated before stays online, and the language switcher and your own corrections keep working. New text is no longer translated until you choose a plan.

  • Choose a plan opens your plan page in a new tab.
  • Dismiss hides the notice for good. Each administrator dismisses it for themselves.

The notice is only on the plugin’s own screens. It is not on the dashboard and visitors never see it.

The emails you get

The owners of the account get three emails about the trial, each one once:

  1. When the trial starts: which plan you are trying, the day the trial runs until, and what stops on that day.
  2. In the last three days: a reminder with the end date and a link to choose a plan.
  3. When the trial has ended: that new text is no longer translated, that what is translated stays, and the same link.

Choose a plan

You can choose a plan during the trial or after it.

  1. In WordPress, open any WP Provider Translate screen and click the button in the plan strip, or Choose a plan in the notice.
  2. Your plan page opens in a new tab. During the trial it offers the plan you are trying (Keep Starter) when your site fits in it, and otherwise the plan that fits your site.
  3. Choose the plan and pay. The steps, the ways to pay and who can pay are in change your plan.

Back in WordPress, translation goes on by itself, usually within a minute.

Good to know

  • A plan you pay for during the trial starts that day. Until the trial ends you pay nothing. If you choose a plan earlier, you pay from the day you choose it.
  • The trial does not end early. If your site is bigger than Starter allows, new pages wait and the strip says so. What is translated stays.
  • You can stay without a plan. Your site keeps its translations, its corrections and its switcher for as long as the plugin is active. You translate new text by hand.
  • Deactivating the plugin is a different thing: then your site is shown in its own language only. Activating it again brings the translations back.

Troubleshooting

  • There is no “Trial: … days left” line. The plan strip shows to administrators, after the setup is finished and a language is chosen. An account that already had a trial, or that has a plan, has no such line.
  • A new page gives the home page in another language. The page has no translation yet. Translate it by hand, or choose a plan so it is translated automatically.
  • Part of a translated page is in the original language. That text was added after the trial ended. Translate it by hand, or choose a plan.
  • I chose a plan, but new text is still not translated. Reload the screen and wait a minute. If it stays, use Test connection on the settings page.
  • The notice is gone and I want to choose a plan. Use the button in the plan strip at the top of any WP Provider Translate screen.
